It’s been a bit quiet here, lately, so I thought I’d let you know what’s going on. My health hasn’t been great this year, and that’s had an effect on my ability to read and blog regularly. I’ve reached the point where the part of me that wants to share thoughts about books is wary of starting one in case later I’m not able to write about it as I want to.
But that’s not a sensible approach to have, really. The thing to do is just proceed at whatever pace I can. So I’m going to step back a little – I’m not taking a break as such, just taking things more slowly. I’ll still be on Twitter and Facebook, too. See you soon(ish).

Look after yourself. I do hope you fell better before long. This has certainly been an annus horribilis for you.

I think that’s definitely the right approach. I’ve caught myself a few times thinking “oh, if I start this will I have time to blog about it or will I just end up with more backlog?” That thinking is stupid – it’s the tail wagging the dog. The reading, life generally, should always come first.
Hope things start to pick up again before too long.

Sorry to hear that, David! Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I’ve also been blogging much less regularly, but I think it’s good just to do it when you want to and not worry too much about a schedule. I always enjoy reading your thoughts on books, anyway, even if they’re short or not very regular. Enjoy the step back!
